It’s all Connected: Veganism as a Tool for Social Justice by Brenda Sanders

Veganism is about far more than what’s on our plates – it’s deeply connected to human health, equity, and the future of our communities. In this talk, we’ll explore how plant-based living can be a powerful tool for addressing some of today’s most urgent social issues, including health disparities, food system discrimination, and environmental injustice. Through an accessible and thought-provoking discussion, we’ll examine how the systems that harm animals are often the same systems that disproportionately impact marginalized communities, and how compassionate, sustainable choices can help create a healthier and more just world for all.
Brenda Sanders is a vegan food justice activist who co-founded Thrive Baltimore, a community resource center that offers free classes, workshops, cooking demos, and other programming that support people in living a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. She’s also Executive Director of Afro-Vegan Society, a nonprofit organization that provides resources to people in marginalized communities to assist them in transitioning to veganism.
